The 2013 Starfest Convention is set to take place in Denver from April 19-21. Since it began in 1977, the convention has grown and has become a celebration of all science fiction. As “Doctor Who” has grown in popularity, so has its presence at conventions around the country. With three days of amazing programming spanning three hotels, what does the convention offer for Whovians? Well, more than a fan could imagine.
Rarely is there a television show that continues to surprise viewers in its seventh year. “Psych” proved on Wednesday why it is a fan favorite and continues to delight audiences every week. The show started off with a simple premise; a genius claims to be a psychic to save himself and wrangles his best friend into helping the police solve crimes. Sounds a tad cheesy, but rest assured it is anything but. After over 100 episodes, viewers were heartbroken after the ending of “Deez Nups” when one moment shattered everything that was assumed and safe about the show. (continue reading on Examiner.com)
A companion’s first off world adventure seems to set the tone for their ongoing travels. In the case of Clara Oswald, her first trip was one of suspense and self-discovery. In “The Rings of Akhaten”, writer Neil Cross and director Farren Blackburn take viewers to a magical world that orbits an ominous gas giant.
There have been many war stories, however one era that is not looked at often is the period just before the Second World War. The tension of knowing what is coming adds to the draw dropping cinematography of “Spies of Warsaw”. The epic mini series will be released on DVD from BBC Worldwide on April 16, 2013. Very rarely do silly, heartfelt and well-written sitcoms grace television screens. ‘1600 Penn’ is a new comedy that premiered on NBC in December 2012. Staring and partially created by Josh Gad from “The Book of Mormon”, many thought that the show was a sure hit. However, in the months since its debut, bad reviews have caused many to shy away from the program. Now “1600 Penn” is possibly on the verge of being cancelled. Can the show be saved? After 96 days without new “Doctor Who”, fans gathered around their televisions for the newest story in the hopes that some questions would be answered. Who is Clara? Why does The Doctor keep meeting her? Will he ever find her again? Steven Moffat did not disappoint. “The Bells of Saint John” is a fast paced story full of adventure, thrills and fun.
