‘Nothing O’Clock’ is a triumph for ‘Doctor Who’

There are some authors that seem destined to write Doctor Who.  They understand the magic and intricate storylines that are required to weave a story in The Doctor’s universe.  Neil Gaiman is a visionary that paints a masterpiece with his prose while maintaining the mystery and fairy tale atmosphere required for Matt Smith’s Doctor. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of “Doctor Who”, Penguin Books UK and Puffin Books are releasing e books each month in 2013 featuring one of the eleven Doctors and written by a famous children’s or young adult’s fiction author. BBC America announced on Friday that in celebration of the 50^th Anniversary of “Doctor Who”, the iconic show will be showcased heavily the week leading up to “The Day of The Doctor”.  Rumors have been flying about this anniversary episode, which is about two weeks away.  Starring Matt Smith, Jenna Coleman, David Tennant, Billie Piper and John Hurt, “The Day of The Doctor” will be simulcast around the world at 2:50pm Eastern Time on November 23, 2013. The Seventh Doctor: The Mask of a Clown

After the dark events in The Trial of a Time Lord, when Doctor Who returned there was a lighter air about it.  When The Rani attacks the TARDIS, The Doctor regenerates into Sylvester McCoy and the era of the Seventh Doctor begins.  Assisted by companions Melanie Bush and Ace, this Doctor utilized his clown like nature and sleight of hand to trick his enemies, however there was a mysterious sadness underneath it all.  From playing his spoons whenever appropriate to his secretive and contemplative side, The Seventh Doctor truly had viewers trying to answer the question “Doctor Who?” (Continue on PopWrapped)

The Sixth Doctor: A Technicolor and Controversial Dream

In 1983, who would have guessed that the actor to portray Commander Maxil in Arc of Infinity would become the Sixth Doctor?  Colin Baker was given the seemingly impossible task of making the role of The Doctor in Doctor Who his own.  Not only is this challenging in itself, however even more so when following two fan favorite actors in Tom Baker and Peter Davison.  How do you differentiate yourself from the longest running Doctor and the handsome and mild mannered Doctor?  Baker did it successfully with a whole array of colors and a snarky attitude that harked back to William Hartnell’s First Doctor.  In a multi-colored jacket adorned with a cat pin on his lapel, Baker pulled off a horrendously loud outfit with style.  With Peri Brown (Nicola Bryant) by his side, Colin Baker faced an uphill battle with grace, poise and a bit of flair.
